Course Description:

The Basic Woodworking & Carpentry course at HCS is an introduction to the fundamental knowledge and tool skills needed to plan and construct small to moderate size projects for home and yard. These projects may range from useful small items for around the home to small outdoor wood structures. Students will learn the names and use of basic hand tools, machine and hand power tools and how to use them safely. The student will learn how to plan, cost out, and sketch a plan in preparation for building. All machine tool operations performed by a student will be closely supervised by the instructor. At the conclusion of the course, the student will have a fundamental knowledge of the field and be able to plan and build small but useful projects and structures.

Tuition for shop class: $50/Semester + Project Costs
